cottonSWAG: 2010

Okay, so I really like to try new things! My most recent venture was attempting to make a cake for my daughter for her 2nd birthday. Thought this would be a perfect time to try, seeing as she wouldn't care or remember if it was totally ugly.

So, I began by looking up some recipes for fondant, because I am cheap mostly, but also I wanted to see the ingredients and see if there was any way to make it taste better. That is when I stumbled upon this prize piece of web http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm!

This is fondant icing you can make with literally only 2 main ingredients! Marshmallows (GOOD!) and confectioners sugar (GOOD!). So it was worth a try. Low, and behold this stuff is awesome, unless you have an aversion to marshmallows or confectioners sugar.... in other words, if you have defective taste buds, then it may not work for you. But here are the results that I got (I did work on the design for 3.5 hours) with the marshmallow fondant and some food coloring.... and a lot of time.

So, if you are thinking of trying it, DO IT! IT is fun and rewarding, although note: it makes a pretty dang big mess, although to me it was worth it!
